Take the lead in shaping the way scientific research and knowledge is shared. That’s your challenge as Head of Scholarly Communications and Publishing, managing a committed team of library experts.

Job description

TU Delft Library finds, shares and creates knowledge. Our work is no longer solely about building a library collection of books and journals, but just as much about sharing the university’s output with the wider world. You and your team make that happen. You provide the research community with expert support and advice on the publishing process. You  evaluate the impact of research. And you provide the staff and students with the best possible library collection. To inspire your team you will devise strategies and coach your team members, encouraging their development. Creating a strategic vision for the entire scope of publishing and collections management, you will cultivate the policies and tactics needed to implement this direction.

As part of your role, you will be directing TU Delft OPEN Publishing (working closely with the senior publication officer) and engaging with our faculties to encourage scientists to publish with us. In addition, you ensure the high quality of your team’s advice on publishing strategies and policies. Together, you will drive the open access agenda. Using in-depth research analytics, you will also identify patterns and trends in publication, providing the faculties with valuable insights into the impact and success of their research. And in collaboration with the collections manager, you will oversee the development of our library’s collection.

Your diverse and international team has nine members, who share a drive to redefine scientific publishing and knowledge sharing at national and international level. Which is why you and your team will actively contribute to the TU Delft Open Science Programme but also relevant conferences and workshops. As part of the Research Services department, you will also be working closely with other team heads across the library (such as for research data, and for research infrastructures) and stakeholders across the university. At TU Delft Library, we foster a highly professional, yet relaxed and supportive atmosphere, in which you will get every opportunity to grow your role and evolve.
