In order to better communicate our work to practitioners and the general public, the Environmental Psychology group is looking for a communication officer. As a communication officer, you will bring our activities to the attention of different audience groups in an attractive, clear and accessible way. You will particularly support activities related to funded projects, including the research funded by the Stevin prize awarded by The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) to Linda Steg for her pioneering, innovative and socially impactful research (https://www.nwo.nl/prof-dr-linda-steg).

The tasks include:

- proactively coordinate and create internal and external communication about research findings and other activities, including findings from funded projects
- keep the website up-to-date
- create attractive content for social media channels
- create and send a digital newsletter
- write and send press releases
- work with freelance content producers for design, photography and video productions
- co-organise outreach events.

The Environmental Psychology group studies factors influencing sustainable behaviour, public acceptability, environmental risks, and the relationship between sustainable behaviour and well-being.

Requirements

We are looking for a colleague who shares the mission of the Environmental Psychology group to combine scientific rigour with high societal impact, and is eager to get acquainted with the group and relevant bodies within the University (e.g. the central and faculty department of communications). Presence at the university is needed for at least two days a week (including Tuesdays). We expect the following qualifications:

- a Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of communication or equivalent experience
- minimum of three years work experience in (online) communication
- experience with different types of CMS, preferably WordPress
- knowledge of and demonstrable experience with online/web media and the latest developments in that field
- experience or affinity with basic image editing
- fluency in (writing) English and Dutch
- being able to collaborate with people at different levels of the university
- independent, pro-active, team player, eye for detail, persistent and facilitating.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 months.

In accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, we offer:

- depending on qualifications and work experience, a salary of € 3,098 to a maximum of € 4,257 (salary scale 9) gross per month for a full-time position
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
- attractive secondary and market terms of employment
- a temporary contract for two years initially, with a possible extension with another two years. The position is classified in accordance with the University Job Classification (UFO) system; the UFO profile is Communications Officer 1
- working hours 60% / 0.6 FTE.
