The Clinical Psychology team at the Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies at the Erasmus University Rotterdam is looking for an Assistant Professor “Digital Health Interventions” to strengthen our team in our education program and research topics.

Background

This vacancy falls within the new interdisciplinary EUR-broad SSH-program “The influence of digitalization on work, prosperity and entrepreneurship”. For this program, 3 new Assistant Professors are recruited at the Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies, to connect with the theme “Digital decision support”.

Position

As an Assistant Professor you will be working in our Clinical Psychology team. You develop your own innovative research line “Digital Health Interventions”, which also fits one or more of these research lines in our team: Emotional Disorders, Addiction, Developmental Psychopathology, Health Psychology and Behavior Change.

You will be participating in teaching in the Bachelor’s degree program in Psychology in the domains relevant to Clinical Psychology and the international Master’s degree programs “Clinical Psychology” and “Health Psychology and Digital Interventions”. Teaching involves lectures, (small-scale) workgroups, (clinical) practicals, workshops and individual supervision of clinical and practical internships and research theses, along with more general tasks of coordination and administration.

The core tasks include:

  • participating in teaching at a Bachelor’s and Master’s level;
  • developing an own research line on digital interventions, mental health, and technology;
  • participating in one or more of the research programs of the Clinical Psychology team;
  • collaborating in the interdisciplinary EUR initiative “The influence of digitalization on work, prosperity and entrepreneurship”;
  • collaborating with other groups (e.g., SYNC lab, Movez lab) and in initiatives at the EUR such as the sector plan topics “Youth and Resilience” or “Societal Transitions and Behavior Change”, or the Convergence Health and Technology consortia https://convergence.nl/me-health-innovators-example-translation/ or https://convergence.nl/protect-me-opening-article/ ;
  • add to societal impact in support of human decision making, behavioral change and improvement of health based on data, including reducing the digital divide;
  • contributing to the acquisition of external research funding.

Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague (m/f/x) who:

  • has a PhD in a topic relevant to clinical and/or health psychology, E-health and digital behavior change, or experimental psychopathology;
  • has scientific creativity and productivity, as shown by recent peer-reviewed publications;
  • has creative and innovative research ideas (fitting the general research lines of the group);
  • has experience with teaching in clinical psychology, health psychology, or related areas;
  • preferably has clinical training and experience;
  • has experience with working in an interdisciplinary environment and with stakeholder involvement;
  • has an eye for innovations in teaching methods and is prepared to contribute to the optimization of the quality of teaching;
  • has the ability to, and preferably experience with, acquiring research funding;
  • is highly motivated to contribute to open science;
  • has excellent social skills and is a team player

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is 01/09/2022 or earlier, and you will be based at ESSB in Woudesteijn Campus, Rotterdam. The successful candidate will be offered a 0.8-1.0 FTE, one year contract with Erasmus University Rotterdam. This contract can, in case of positive assessment and unchanged organizational circumstances, be turned into a fixed employment contract. In accordance with the conditions applied at Erasmus University Rotterdam as indicated in the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO NU) of the Dutch universities, the salary is dependent on the candidate’s experience and is set at a maximum of CAO NU scale 11 with a minimum of €3.974,- to a maximum of € 4.670,- gross per month, on a fulltime basis. In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal education budget, work-life balance coaches and more. Employees can also use EUR facilities, such as the Erasmus sports center and the University library.
