We are looking for a Junior Student counsellor (0.8/1fte) to join our team.

Job description

As a Junior Student Counsellor, you will work with students of the Bachelor programmes in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, and the Master programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Decision Making. Additional programmes may become part of your portfolio as our Department grows.

You will be part of the team of student counsellors dedicated to the students of the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences. Within this team, you will support and guide students on both personal and academic matters and help them to reach their full potential. Additionally, one of your main tasks will be to organize the Peer Mentor Program for the academic year 2024-2025. This encompasses tasks such as recruitment, managing administrative duties and ensuring smooth communication between staff members, peer mentors, and students.

Requirements

  • You have a relevant HBO and/or university education; and/or equivalent higher vocational education level.
  • You exhibit outstanding interpersonal communication skills, displaying openness, approachability, empathy, patience, cultural awareness, adaptability, and a well-balanced disposition.
  • You demonstrate an excellent command of the English language, with a minimum proficiency level of Cambridge C1 or its equivalent.
  • You can demonstrate advanced proficiency in the software applications; SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • This position includes working office days on Fridays.

What we offer

As Junior student counsellor at Faculty of Science & Engineering, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 9 according to UFO profile Studieadviseur, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3377,00 and €4640,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0.8 - 1.0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
