We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD candidate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research on the impact of several gender dimensions on health outcomes in rheumatic diseases, particularly systemic sclerosis and axial spondyloarthritis. The project is partly embedded in existing studies on sex differences, offering a rich data environment and access to established research networks. Are you our new PhD candidate?

Tasks and responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive qualitative, quantitative and design-based research on gender dimensions in rheumatic diseases.
• Analyze and interpret data, and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians.
• Present research findings at (inter)national scientific meetings.
• Contribute to the broader research goals of the department and the Radboudumc.

Our new PhD candidate has a keen interest in research focusing on gender studies in medicine, particularly the social mechanisms related to gender and their impact on people's health. Additionally, you have an affinity for working on co-creative projects that involve patient populations and are capable of motivating individuals to participate in our research project. It is essential for you to be a strong human-centered team player with excellent communication skills. You are organized and motivated to work with multi-method research approaches. Please note that professional proficiency in Dutch is required for this position, as it involves significant engagement with Dutch-language resources and research activities, such as interviews, that take place in a Dutch-speaking environment.

Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the profile below:

• A Master's degree in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Biology, Health Sciences, Public Health, Health & Behavioural Science or Medical Anthropology.
• Basic scientific skills that lay the foundation for a doctoral research project.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English and Dutch language, aimed at producing scientific publications and presentations.
• Excellent organizational skills to facilitate a doctoral research project.

Fixed-term contract: 3,5 years.
