Job description

Within the Mesoscale Chemical Systems group several positions for PhD students are available on the topic of Mesoscale materials with applications in chemistry. These positions will be funded via an ERC Advanced Grant awarded to prof. Gardeniers, for a project entitled "Chemical Reaction Engineering by Additive Manufacturing of Mesocale MetaMaterials" (acronym: CREAM4). The aim of the project is to design 3D metamaterials, and fabricate them via additive manufacturing principles (3D printing). The materials will be (surface) functionalized with nanoparticles via microfluidic techniques, in order to make then suitable for applications in (photo)catalysis, (photo)electrochemistry and (phase) separation. Several applications will be tested.

The candidate PhD students will become part of a team of 8 junior and senior researchers working on this topic. This team is embedded in an international research group with a strong collaborative atmosphere. As part of the PhD program, the PhD students will have the opportunity for continuous education, within the Twente Graduate School, and actively contribute to the group's teaching program, e.g. by supervision of BSc an MSc assignments.
