The Chair of Econometrics & Statistics at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management invites applications for the position of a doctoral student (m/f) located at WHU Campus Vallendar. The Position is to be filled as soon as possible

Job description

The position is part of the project “Consequences of structural breaks on statistical inference with long memory processes”, sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG). It is carried out jointly with the Institute of Statistics at Leibniz University Hannover.

The project aims at examining statistical tests for structural change when the time series of interest display long memory. Some parts of the analysis will be theoretical, requiring the use of cointegration analysis, robust statistics and dynamic programming. Other parts will be empirical, with particular focus on high-frequency financial data. Theory and applications will be interwoven with computer simulations.

Frequent visits to and of the Hannover group will ensure a lively exchange of ideas. There are no teaching obligations. The PhD thesis will be written under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Michael Massmann.
