Job description

The High Performance Distributed Computing group of the Computer Systems section studies parallel and distributed programming systems in combination with real-world applications. Modern applications with societal impact (e.g., Internet-of-Things, blockchains, Bioinformatics) often need to address a wide spectrum of techniques for data generation and processing, using a range of computing infrastructures from small sensors to big supercomputers.  The HPDC group investigates programming environments for modern processors/accelerators and distributed sensor processing systems for IoT, always with experimental evaluations. The group works on several high-performance parallel applications in computer science (e.g., reasoning, machine learning, multimedia), other science domains (e.g., astronomy, bioinformatics, forensic science), and industry/government (blockchains, business analytics). The group has a strong international profile and excellent ties to the other chairs within the computer systems section (Massivizing Computer Systems, led by prof. Alexandru Iosup, and Systems & Network Security, led by prof. Herbert Bos), and with other Computer Science and applications groups.
