Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer who likes to develop new approaches, methodologies and solutions for the automation of precision assembly processes.

Main part of your job is to acquire, carry out and manage your own portfolio of projects covering:

  • Requirement analysis and project definition together with our customers
  • Development and evaluation of processes and system components on both hardware and software level
  • Feasibility studies and prototyping in a lab and production environment
  • Concept development for upscaling of developed solutions in close interaction with equipment suppliers
  • Mobilize and lead a team with the necessary skills 
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to determine programs and project scopes.

The projects you will manage will vary from short projects (order of weeks) to projects that run over a couple of years. Beyond the project related activities, you will serve decision makers in industry by organizing and carrying out seminars and workshops on related topics.

Requirements

  • You hold a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Systems and Control, Robotics or a related discipline
  • Experience with design of mechatronic systems
  • >3 year of project management experience in industrial environment
  • Programming experience with Python C# or similar languages
  • Experience with image processing is a plus
  • Affinity for manufacturing and automation technologies is a plus
  • You’re very much hands-on and have the mentality to get things done
  • Capacity to manage priorities and tight deadlines
  • Proactive and solution minded
  • Excellent communication skills
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch. German language skills are a plus.

Conditions of employment

  • Fulltime position for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension.
  • The gross monthly salary will range from € 2.640,- to  € 5.513,- (in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities) and will depend on experience and qualifications;
  • A holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3%;
  • Minimum of 29 holidays in case of fulltime employment;

The Faculty of Engineering Technology (ET)
is one of the five faculties of the University of Twente. ET combines Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Industrial Design Engineering.
