Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) welcomes applications for the position of a

Project/Account Manager at the Project Desk (0,8 FTE)

In this position you will contribute to a smooth and successful implementation and management of externally funded research projects, in close co-operation with the project leader and the other members of the RSM’s Funding Team. Most of the project management within the Project Desk consists of monitoring the project processes and not the day-to-day management for one project only. You will also contribute as an account manager to the development of the Erasmus Centre of Data Analytics (ECDA).

RSM’s Funding Team consists of a Director of Grants Development, the Project Desk, a legal counsel and project control.

Your tasks

In the project management role, you will be expected to submit and implement the formal procedures of (international) projects, including co-ordinating and organising project meetings, project administration. You will also act as an account manager for research centres within the business school, in particular the recently founded Erasmus Centre of Data Analytics (ECDA), and collaborate with academic directors, stakeholders, partners, directors and faculty services such as business and project control, legal services and the Project Desk.


In the project management role (approx. 2 d/w), you will be expected to

  • act as the contact point for funding institutions, partner organisations and stakeholders in project implementation

  • monitor and report on the scientific and administrative milestones and deliverables of the project

  • co-ordinate, monitor and improve the reporting processes and ensure timely and up-to-date project reporting

  • organise and monitor the budget for the project activities in co-operation with the project controller

  • represent RSM, including taking part in relevant discussions, such as funding team meetings.


As an account manager for the Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics (approx. 2 d/w) you are expected to:

  • support the management of the Erasmus Centre of Data Analytics with the expansion of its portfolio of (project) activities. This includes monitoring and following up on contracts with corporate partners and project secretariat tasks.

  • explore funding opportunities (national and EU) and prepare applications for available funds

  • explore the Big Data projects that are being carried out on campus and in the region

  • day to day management activities related to administration and finance.

  • liaise with internal stakeholders such as the Director of Grants Development, the project desk, the legal desk and business and project control.


You report to and fall under the direct responsibility of the RSM Project Desk.

Requirements

The ideal project/account manager has:

  • an academic background (MSc level)

  • several years of  experience in research project management in the European Framework (FP7, H2020) and Dutch national funding programmes (such as NWO schemes)

  • excellent knowledge of rules and procedures of both national and European funding programmes or the ability to quickly master these rules and procedures

  • a multi-year experience in account management

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in Dutch and English (CEFR C1)

  • a willingness to work flexibly, to meet tight deadlines and to travel abroad occasionally

  • excellent planning skills, with experience in applying these in a complex and dynamic (international) context

  • ability to function well under stress when multiple applications need to be submitted for a specific deadline.

Conditions of employment

The part-time position (0.8 FTE) is initially for one year, but has the potential to be extended. The conditions of employment correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

  • Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,709 up to a maximum of € 4,978 gross per month (scale 10 or 11 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours.

  • Flexible working hours are negotiable.

  • Erasmus University has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
