Functieomschrijving

As an assistant professor, you will be responsible for teaching in the School of Law, Department of International and European Law. You will be involved in courses relating to public international law, human rights, and European law, in the School of Law’s bachelor and master programmes, as well as possibly at University College Utrecht. You will also supervise bachelor and master theses, and may be assigned coordination tasks. Although the emphasis will be on teaching, research is possible for 0.2 FTE. You will also be expected to assist with research or teaching-related work of the Department.

Functie-eisen

We are looking for a candidate with sound knowledge of public international law, human rights, and European law. In particular the following requirements apply:

  • you have a PhD in International Human Rights Law or Public International Law;
  • you have experience and strong skills in academic teaching;
  • you have an excellent command of written and spoken English; preferably, you are also able to teach in Dutch; Non-Dutch speaking candidates should be prepared to acquire a good passive knowledge of the Dutch language;
  • you have a Basic Teaching Qualification or are willing to acquire one; and
  • you have strong interpersonal skills for building contact with colleagues and students.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

We can offer a temporary position for a duration of four years. Preferred starting date is 1 April 2019. The salary is min. €3,637 and max. €4,978 (scale 11 according to the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities) before tax per month for a full-time position. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end allowance of 8.3% per year.
