Job description

Physicists are engaged in clinical service, education, research, and development. As the Department of Radiation Oncology is an academic department you will assist in providing high-quality medical physics expertise and scientific support within radiotherapy held to the standards of relevant professional organizations. In this capacity, you will lend advice to doctors and radiation technologist providing a delivery of service consistent with the vision and values of Erasmus MC. In addition to excellent medical physics support, you are expected to create your own research within the department strategic plan.

Requirements

You are a licensed Medical Physicist (PhD) in Radiotherapy with a proven interest in innovation and scientific research. Hereby you have the ambition to improve your own field, the department and yourself continuously. You are result driven and show initiative to enter research partnerships. Both verbal and written you have excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, and you have the ability to function as a team player in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. If you are not proficient in Dutch yet, you are required to learn the language. Experience with working in projects is an advantage.

Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, a valid proof of identity, diploma's and/ or relevant registration such as BIG/ RGS are conditions for the appointment.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary contract for the duration of one year with the possibility of extending to a permanent position. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (cao UMC). The gross monthly salary amounts a minimum of € 5.155,- (scale 13) up to a maximum of € 6.895,- (scale 14), depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.

On a yearly basis, more than 5.500 patients are treated for mainly oncological diseases. Since 2018, the department has moved to a new building with state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment. The department has an extensive and renowned research program in the field of high-precision adaptive radiotherapy, automated treatment plan optimization, robotic radiotherapy, molecular radiobiology, hyperthermia, and proton therapy. Together with Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (LUMC) and TU Delft, the department participates in HollandPTC. The division of Medical Physics has about 55 employees, including 13 medical physicists and 3 medical physicists in training.
