Job description

The research mission of the Surfaces and Thin Films group is to carry out a competitive research programme in the field of Surface and Interface Physics with particular emphasis on crystalline organic and inorganic thin films, and functional molecules and molecular motors on surfaces, while training young researchers at the bachelor’s, master’s, PhD and postdoctoral level in state-of-the-art surface analysis techniques and research in the field.
We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow (PhD in Physics/Physical Chemistry or similar) who will perform cutting-edge experiments with our newly commissioned setup for time-resolved electron diffraction in transmission and in reflection geometries. S/he will also be responsible for the instructing and daily supervising master’s and PhD students working with time-resolved electron diffraction. Our facility is designed to grow thin films in situ and analyze them. Current research themes are ultrathin MgB2 superconducting films, metal nanoparticles/graphene, metallic thin films and 2D solids (transition metal dichalcogenides).
