Job description

We are looking for a bright and inspiring Post Doc researcher in the field of urban resource (water, energy, carbon, etc) system analysis and modelling at the Department of Environmental Technology (www.ete.wur.nl/UK/). Your research will focus on predicting the consequences and impact of different urban water infrastructural transitions (such as green-blue infrastructure, decentralised sanitation, resource recovery and reuse, etc) on urban environmental quality and livability in Amsterdam using geo-spatial tools.

The project aims to elucidate the impact of various urban infrastructure transitions on the dynamics of different urban resources both in terms of quantity and quality. You will develop a geo-spatial model to simulate this dynamic urban resource system using studies, simulations, and cases in Amsterdam. You will be interacting with several on-going PhDs working on urban system modelling. As such, you will play an important role within the urban system engineering (USE) group of our department. As a member of the department of Environmental Technology, you are expected to participate in our educational activities and our applications for research grants.

Part of your work will be performed at Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS), at which you will be asked to work closely with various local stakeholders in Amsterdam to co-develop, apply and validate this model.
