To conduct doctoral research on the basis of an individual research proposal, to be developed further by the PhD Fellow, in the area of EU competition law and to teach courses in the field of EU law.
The doctoral research will be part of the faculty research programme, The Progression of EU law: accommodating change and upholding values. The research will be conducted under the supervision of one of the Department’s professors.
The appointment will be for a period of six years, with the possibility for premature termination: at the end of the second year and at the end of the fourth year an evaluation will take place in order to decide on a renewal of the contract. In this evaluation the progress made towards completion of the PhD project, the progress in teaching skills, and participation in the PhD Training Programme will be assessed. The appointment will be under the terms of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
This is a full-time position; the starting date is 1 October 2019 at the latest.
Salary scale in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Initial gross monthly salary is € 2,709 per month (scale 10, salary number 0) and will be increased yearly up to a maximum of € 3,389 in year six.

The PhD Fellow will take part in the PhD Training Programme and, unless the successful candidate already possesses this qualification or its equivalent, shall obtain the University Teaching Qualification (BKO) within two years.
