Job description

A management assistant takes a pro-active role in building strong relationships between its stakeholders and in creating an environment in which all can work in the most efficient and effective way. You are a spider in the web of secretarial and administrative support to the Management of the Institute, Faculty and Support staff.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Email: handle the email box of the secretariat and the work that results from it
  • All logistical organization around the various ISS seminar series
  • General secretarial tasks (organizing room bookings, catering requests, updating information screens etc.)
  • Events: support marketing in the preparation of events and seminars
  • Registration and filing of ISS documents in the automated CORSA system
  • Administrative Support: perform activities that support administration
  • Order and maintain stationary and equipment
  • Collaborate with the facilities department within ISS
  • Assists on introduction program for new employees
  • All other tasks that arise

Requirements

  • MBO level secretariat education
  • Accuracy, flexibility, cooperation, result oriented, integrity
  • Good communication skills in a multi-cultural environment
  • Capacity to learn and reflect
  • Customer oriented
  • Capacity to plan, organize and prioritize, fast worker
  • Experienced in Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Native English speaker who is fluent in Dutch
  • Workdays: Monday, Friday (fixed) and Tuesday or Thursday

Conditions of employment

The start date of this position is as soon as possible and you will be based at ISS in The Hague. The successful candidate will be offered a one year contract with Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The contract can be extended in case of a positive assessment. In accordance with the conditions applied at the Erasmus University Rotterdam as indicated in the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO NU) of Dutch universities, the salary is dependent on the candidate’s experience and will range from € 1.992 – € 2.770,-  gross per month (scale 6) in case of fulltime employment. In addition, ISS pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3%.

Department

The International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) is a leading academic centre for international development studies. While based in The Hague, the ISS is part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. It is a post-graduate institute of policy-oriented critical social sciences, founded in 1952. The Institute offers a PhD in Development Studies, a 15.5-month MA in Development Studies with five Majors, and several post-graduate Diploma courses.
