Job description

As a Trainer on Research Data Management and Open Science your main task is to provide training to PhD candidates and researchers in the research data management and open science courses provided by TU Delft Library, as well as teach, evaluate and develop externally-focused training in which TU Delft Library or 4TU.ResearchData are involved (e.g. Essentials for Data Support, MOOC Delivering Research Data Management Services, Open Science MOOC). You will also develop new courses to help implement the ‘Vision for Research Data Management Training at TU Delft’ (in collaboration with your team and the Education Support team). You work with national and international networks that are relevant for the advancement of Research Data Management and Open Science training.

In addition, you will support the Research Data Services team and 4TU.ResearchData in organisation of internal social events (e.g. team building) and team meetings.

The TU Delft Library is the largest technical-scientific library in the Netherlands and has the task of safeguarding the availability of technical-scientific information for TU Delft and all of the Netherlands. We focus as much as possible on providing digital services and digital, technical-scientific information. The Library's Research Data Services are playing a leading role in promoting high-quality Research Data Management. The range of research data management training provided by the team is expanding and new creative ways to teach research data management are constantly explored.

Requirements

  • You are an enthusiastic trainer, have expertise in providing and developing training, face-to-face and online, to PhD candidates and Researchers.
  • Liaises with researchers, as well as other stakeholders within the Library, ICT and beyond on current and future training needs.
  • You have knowledge on Research Data Management and Open Science and follow recent trends in these fields.
  • You have an MSc degree or equivalent understanding of the research environment; PhD degree would be a plus.
  • You have a good command of English, written and spoken and excellent communication skills You strive to create an open, safe and interactive learning environment within the training sessions.
  • You are willing to advance and learn new skills to develop and provide training (e.g. educational skills, software management skills).
  • Being familiar with programming and software carpentry workshops is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with possibility of permanent extension.

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with possibility of permanent extension. The position is for 36-40 hours per week (1.0FTE). The employment contract is for a period of 1 year with possibility of permanent extension. The salary is based on scale 10 with a maximum of € 4,402,- per month on a full time basis. TU Delft offers a customisable compensation package, a discount for health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged. An International Children’s Centre offers child care and an international primary school. Dual Career Services offers support to accompanying partners. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
