Job description

Are you looking for an IT job where you can contribute to a healthy society? Do you want to develop or continue developing yourself as an application administrator? Are you interested in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and want to work in a scientific research environment? We, Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), have a vacancy for an Application Administrator! Will you be our new colleague?

What will you do?
As an Application Administrator for LIMS, you will be responsible for the proper use and configuration of our laboratory information management system. We are currently in the process of tendering a new LIMS, and you will be the key player in this process. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure the implementation, testing, user training if needed, and optimal configuration. After a successful implementation, you will be the point of contact for the management and maintenance of the application.

You will be the liaison for our supplier and internal IT department, making you indispensable to us.
You will work in a team of 4 colleagues, based at the Wageningen campus. After a successful onboarding period, partial remote work is an option.

In summary, your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • installing, configuring, and optimizing the LIMS system;
  • performing and testing maintenance and updates;
  • being the point of contact for users during incidents;
  • participating in improvement projects.

Requirements

Your qualifications to be successful in this role, there are multiple perspectives to consider. You may be a laboratory technician with IT/LIMS knowledge or interest, or you might be an IT professional who wants to learn more about the laboratory environment and improve it from an IT perspective.

You also possess:
  • HBO (Higher Vocational Education) level of working and thinking, with a completed education in IT or laboratory (HLO, MLO+);
  • a few years of experience as an application administrator or experience in a research environment;
  • experience with laboratory information systems like LIMS is a plus;
  • experience with stakeholder management;
  • a service-oriented and problem-solving approach;
  • knowledge of SQL.

Naturally, you have strong communication skills in both Dutch and English. In our international work environment, English communication is increasingly common. For this position, a language level of B2 is required. If you do not yet meet this level, we will gladly assist you through our language center, Wageningen in’to Language.

You will find that there are plenty of challenges for you. These challenges can also be seen as development opportunities. If you do not yet have the exact track record mentioned in the job description but have solid work experience, we still encourage you to apply.

  • excellent pension scheme through ABP.

In addition to these excellent secondary benefits, we also offer a competitive salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a market-conform salary ranging from €3,316 to €5,273 for a full-time position of 36 hours per week in accordance with the CAO Wageningen Research (scale 9-10).
