We are looking for a skilled and reliable Research Technician to join the
Regenerative Orthopedics research group at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to support the Ombion project. The Ombion project, formally known as Centre for Animal-Free Biomedical Translation (CPBT, in Dutch: Centrum voor Proefdiervrije Biomedische Translatie), is funded by the National Growth Funds and aims to accelerate the transition to animal-free biomedical innovations.
Your jobOmbion will work on the development and dissemination of animal-free biomedical innovations and expertise within four Transition Projects. The initial Transition Projects will focus on ALS, cystic fibrosis, asthma & COPD, and Osteoarthritis & Rheumatoid Arthritis. Ombion will implement the available and developed methods, tools, and expertise together with researchers and companies. The Regenerative Orthopedics group is recruiting a research technician to support and facilitate the activities within the Transition Project Osteoarthritis & Rheumatoid Arthritis at Utrecht University.
The research group is headed by Prof. Marianna Tryfonidou and we are a young, international, multidisciplinary, and supporting research team consistent of three assistant professors, four postdocs, six PhD candidates, three supporting staff members, and students. Our main focus is on low back pain and joint diseases with a clear focus on translational research of new therapies. Our research group is embedded in the
Regenerative Medicine Utrecht collaboration and housed at the Regenerative Medicine Centre Utrecht within the Hubrecht Institute.
As a Research Technician, you are responsible for providing and facilitating technical support to our research team by performing a variety of tasks in support of research. Your daily work consists assisting in biobanking of samples that come from the clinic (e.g. tissues and/or biological fluids), both of human and animal origin according to standardized protocols. Your structured and precise approach ensures that all samples and records (meta-data) remain reliable, traceable, and well-documented, which will be the backbone of our high-quality research. Additionally, you support the team in hands-on practices such as cell and tissue culture, biochemistry, molecular biology, tissue processing, and histology. If you enjoy working with colleagues from different disciplines and are good at multitasking, then this is the job for you.
