Together we discover the healthcare of tomorrow

Together @ Amsterdam UMC

Amsterdam University Medical Centers is a leading medical center that combines complex high-quality patient care, innovative scientific research and education of the next generation committed health care professionals. Together, we build a society in which diseases are prevented and patients are cured.

Amsterdam UMC houses the university hospital and the medical faculty of the two universities of Amsterdam (VU & UvA), as well the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience and the medical department of the Royal Tropical Institute. Also a number of biotech companies – partly Amsterdam UMC spin-offs - are located on the premises. This concentration of expertise makes Amsterdam UMC ‘more than just a university hospital’ and provides a breeding ground for fruitful scientific collaboration.

Amsterdam UMC has around 19.500 employees and has two locations in Amsterdam: location AMC en location VUmc. Both have close historical ties to the city of Amsterdam. Will you join us in our journey towards better care for our patients every day?

The Amsterdam UMC Fellowship aims to attract extremely talented researchers, who have the potential to build, expand and maintain their own successful research group.

The fellowship awards a maximum of €750,000 for the full term of five years (or less for a shorter period, on a pro rata basis), covering the salary of the fellow, the salary of a PhD-student and/or their bench fees.

"The Amsterdam UMC fellowship gives you the freedom to choose which department you would like to work in. It allows you to truly shape your own career," - Jeroen den Dunnen, associate professor and winner of the 2015 Amsterdam UMC fellowship.

Want to know more about this research fellowship? Take a look at our website.

“Working as a researcher in an academic hospital motivates me even more to develop techniques that we can directly apply to patient studies. This often leads to interesting cross-fertilization for new research. Due to the close connections, this is precisely possible within an academic hospital.“
