We are seeking a teaching fellow at 0.8FTE to contribute to interdisciplinary teaching at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, especially within the BSc in Global Studies.

Job Description
FASoS is seeking a teaching fellow with a love for teaching and supporting students to contribute to teaching in the BSc programme Global Studies, an inter-faculty, interdisciplinary programme that supports students to become critical and responsible global analysts and citizens. There may also be opportunity to teach courses in the BA programmes in European Studies, Digital Society and/or Arts and Culture.

Based on our approach of problem-based learning in a small-scale educational environment, you will act as a tutor in courses that bring together perspectives from a wide range of disciplines (e.g., history, political science, economics, law, psychology), with a strong focus on the social sciences and humanities. Additionally, you will contribute to the teaching of academic skills and research methods, including quantitative (e.g., digital/computational, inferential statistics) and/or qualitative research methods. You may also be asked to take on the role of an academic mentor and thesis supervisor for bachelor students.

You will become a member of one of the five departments of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: Literature & Art, History, Philosophy, Politics, and Society Studies.

The job description for this entry-level position consists of teaching and assessment activities, including mentoring and thesis supervision. Please note that as an early-career position without a research component, this position is not considered suitable for candidates who have a PhD or are currently working on a PhD thesis.

Requirements
You have a Master’s degree in, or closely related to, one of the above-mentioned fields, or will acquire one before the starting date of August 15.

You have the ability to stimulate student learning and participation in group discussions and to be an inspiring and stimulating mentor and supervisor. Previous experience in working with innovative, interdisciplinary learning approaches and problem-based teaching methods are an asset.

An excellent command of English is a prerequisite (Cambridge English Proficiency, level C2, oral and written), the faculty’s main language of instruction.

What we offer
As a teaching fellow at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

• Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to UFO profile Teacher, function level 4, with corresponding starting salary of €3.226 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week, for an entry-level candidate with no previous university teaching experience). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
• An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,8 FTE. Please note that this is a temporary contract for one year.
• At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences FASoS is a close-knit community of approximately 250 staff members and 2100 students. During breaks and before meetings, you can often find us at our favourite local coffee spot Bandito Espresso.
