The Faculty of Industrial Design is looking for a candidate to fill the position of a:

Innovative Teacher Support Officer/Education Development Officer (1.0 FTE)

Job description

A team of motivated and professional teacher support officers / education experts helps the TU/e teachers design their education. Our mission is to provide teachers with high-quality ICT in Education (ICTE) support that is always up to date. The team supports the lecturer during the educational design process, analyses, advises, spars, but also has a hands-on mentality and makes a difference. In this way, we enable the teachers to develop forms of education that optimally help transfer the specialist knowledge of lecturers to the students. In that educational design, the student is always central. We always strive to achieve an effective and efficient design.

This vacancy combines the Teacher Support at the Department of Industrial Design (50%) and Central (50%).

Industrial Design (ID) is a creative and innovative department based on competence-based education. The primarily educational model at ID is challenge-based and design-based project education. The teachers supervise students to become self-directed learners and coach students' competence development. To support the students' learning process feedback and rubrics are used as well as tools such as Canvas and online discussion platforms.

The central ESA Teacher Support Team enables the departmental teacher supporters to design optimal education with their teachers. This team therefore initiates TU/e wide projects on for example the implementation of new assessment and feedback tools, design principles for challenge based learning and Learning Analytics. This team also comprises a flexible shall. This means extra capacity that is at de disposal of both the departmental innovation projects (e.g., like described in Industrial Design) and central developments (e.g., like working in the mentioned projects).

Various preconditions have been created at the TU/e for innovations in education. Many new educational ICT systems and AV resources are also now making it possible to design education in an optimal mix of forms. Teachers are making increasing use of this.

In this function, you will have a leading position in teacher support within the department of Industrial Design and a diversity of educational innovations at the whole TU/e. You will closely cooperate with program coordinators, program directors and the departmental managers Education and Students Affairs and the chain of (departmental) teacher supporters. For Industrial Design, you will be the reliable key-user of the educational management systems (e.g., Canvas, Cirrus, Feedback Fruits, etc).

Are you the trusted innovative educational developer with a well-founded vision who functions optimally in a matrix of actors, and are you a team player with a service-oriented attitude so that insight, didactic knowledge, tools and experiences can be disseminated throughout the organization?

Will you together with others in our team be keeping up with ICTE developments and will you be giving that extra boost to the range of possibilities and solutions that Industrial Design and the entire chain of teacher support officers can offer our teachers?

Do you tackle major educational innovations on a project basis and only let go when a new success has been achieved?

Do you quickly switch between the various actors from whom successes and show cases arise in a multidisciplinary design team?

Can you take the lead in shaping an optimal blend of learning forms that demonstrably enable students to study more effectively and enable teachers to give students the personal attention they need for high-quality engineering education?

Do you like pioneering and sharing experiences with the community?

ESA also supports the Executive Board, the Deans of the Bachelor College and the Graduate School, and the departments in the fields of education policy, legislation and regulations, quality assurance, education and institution accreditation, educational innovation and internationalization.
