Job description

You are an enthusiastic scientist willing to impact Geo-Information Science and its interface to complex visualization and data mining. You have experience in crowdsourcing technologies, visualization/augmented reality, localization, deep learning and/or spatio-temporal modeling of multiple heterogeneous geospatial data sources. You are a teammate willing to perform original research, and align it with the thematic domains of the GRS group: from urban computing and digital humanities to nature conservation and land use characterisation.
You will be asked to contribute to the education activities and the group's research excellence. This includes participating to the existing education portfolio of the group, as well as developing new courses toward new technology-based GIScience. You will lead creative and groundbreaking scientific research, strengthening and complementing the already ongoing themes in the group.

Requirements

You are required to hold a PhD in Geo-information Science, Computer Science or related fields and an excellent academic record (international research, passion for teaching, research funding acquisition) in line with the expected profile for a Tenure Track at Wageningen University. You should show leadership in developing a vision related to ground breaking research concepts and new concepts of education and be an inspiring ambassador of your theme towards partners both within and outside academia, nationally and internationally.

Conditions of employment

We offer a full time position for an Assistant professor (UD). Evaluation on job performance is every 3 years, and a positive outcome will lead to a permanent position after 7 years. Your salary will depend on knowledge and experience. Gross salary per month is from € 3637,- to € 4978,- based on full time employment.
You will enter a career trajectory called Tenure Track, with a phenomenal environment for you to grow, excel and work within the department to make a difference in our field. Successful evaluation will allow growing towards a Professor holding a Personal Chair. This includes the chance to define your own research line and research group. We offer training and coaching, as well as opportunities to work part-time.
