We are searching for a highly motivated candidate to work in a multidisciplinary and international team. The research group “Inflammation” investigates the role of inflammation-related processes in type 2 diabetes. The group characterizes the mechanistic impact of specific biomarkers of subclinical inflammation on the cellular level as and their predictive value for the incidence of type 2 diabetes and its complications in clinical and epidemiological studies (selected recent publications: Diabetes Care 2017;40:569-576; Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol 2017;37:1222-1227; Nat Rev Endocrinol 2018;14:567-568; Diabetes 2018;67:2434-2442; Diabetes Metab Res Rev 2019;35:e3074).

Deutsche Zentrum für Diabetesforschung (DDZ), Leibniz Institute for Diabetes Research at Heinrich Heine University (HHU) in Düsseldorf is funded by the Federal Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The DDZ as an interdisciplinary institute links molecular and cell biological basic research with clinical investigation. The DDZ aims at developing new approaches for the prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus and at improving the treatment of its complications. The DDZ is a member of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD).
