Medical Psychology
The successful candidate is engaged in research and education in the area of Medical Psychology and has expertise in research on the interaction between psychological factors, as related to acute and chronic diseases and clinical outcomes. A proven track record in research in clinical settings is essential, combined with a focus on biological mechanisms and/or intervention strategies in patients with medical disorders. The candidate should have substantial experience in linking behavioral and social science to health outcomes. Practical experience in medical and/or primary care settings would be an advantage. As to teaching, the candidate is expected to become the standard bearer of the unique selective two-year master program in Medical Psychology and to actively teach in this and other educational programs.
The position will be embedded in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology and the Center of Research on Psychological and Somatic Disorders (CoRPS). The department of Medical and Clinical Psychology’s overarching goal is to enhance the quality of life in patients with psychological and/or somatic conditions. The candidate’s expertise in medical psychology will help to further integrate the research and teaching of Medical Psychology and Clinical Psychology within the department and the research institute CoRPS, and will play a substantial role in the domain of “Health and Wellbeing”, which is one of the strategic themes of Tilburg University. Candidates should have the ability to manage collaborative research and teaching projects, enriched by inter- and multidisciplinary collaboration. The candidate is expected to take the responsibility of active leadership positions in the Department and the University.
Qualifications
Candidates for the position must have the following qualifications:
A gross annual salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with Dutch national standards for the level of full professorship (Professor 2; “Hoogleraar 2”);
