Maastricht University's Language Centre offers a broad range of language education to students, staff, companies, organisations and private individuals. We help them communicate effectively in an international environment. From language courses in modern languages such as English, French, German and Spanish to Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese and Russian– the Language Centre has something to offer for everyone.
As an English lecturer at the Language Centre of Maastricht University you contribute to the services that are provided by the Language Centre. Specifically, your tasks can be devised to the categories teaching and conducting assessments.

Terms of employment

We offer a temporary position (0.8 FTE) for a period of two years. In case of a good performance after two years, a permanent position is possible. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges from between € 2,790 to € 4,402 per month (scale 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities- cao-NU) for a full-time post. Salaries are supplemented with an additional holiday bonus of 8% and an annual bonus of 8.3% per year. In addition, Maastricht University offers excellent secondary conditions, including an attractive retirement scheme, (partly paid) parental leave and flexible employment conditions (multiple choice model). Research at UM is characterized by a multidisciplinary and thematic approach, and is concentrated in research institutes and schools. The Maastricht University Language Centre is an inter-faculty institute that provides taught courses to some 5,000 UM students per year. In addition, it offers tailor-made language courses to both academic and support staff. The English Department has approximately fifteen teaching staff and provides courses with a strong focus on English for Academic Purposes, ESP and Cambridge Assessment.
