Job description

The expertise group in English and American Literature and Culture invites applications for a part-time teaching position in American Literary and Cultural Studies. You will be asked to teach the courses 'Survey American Literature' and 'American Popular Culture' in the Bachelor's specialisation in American Studies in periods 3 and 4 of 2022. 'Survey American Literature' is an entry-level course introducing students to major currents in the American literary tradition from colonial times to the present. 'American Popular Culture' is taught in the second year of the programme, and critically engages insights from cultural studies and media studies, applying them to cultural forms and practices from the twentieth- and twenty-first-century United States.

Teaching in both modules is seminar-based, so we expect you to be committed to this particular teaching method. In addition to the above-mentioned teaching activities, you may be asked to advise and mentor undergraduate students.
