At CTR, we are looking for a Post-doc fellow in the field of Chlamydia trachomatis pathogenesis and tubal fibrosis within a 3D in vitro oviduct model
The post-doc will work on further using the 3D oviduct model to study tubal pathology, specifically Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) or other relevant microbes. The post-doc will lead the team efforts in relation to establishing and assessing the response of the epithelium, stroma, and immune cells to CT within this model system, with particular focus on monitoring infection progression, dormancy, and tubal fibrosis. Determination of changes to the tubal microenvironment which may impact fertility are a key objective of the project. The candidate will have a proven outstanding record to be part of an exceptionally skilled team that is being assembled thanks to recent European funding secured by the department. The work will suit highly ambitious candidates, who like to solve problems, and are at ease with timely deadlines, who like a fast-paced, but friendly and collaborative international environment with new challenges and opportunities for growth. The candidate is expected to disseminate the results through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
Candidates for the Post-doc position in the field of Chlamydia trachomatis pathogenesis, fallopian tube fibrosis, and 3D in vitro oviduct models (Post-doc 1) should have a M.Sc. degree in microbiology or (immuno)biology, and a Ph.D. that has some overlap with the post-doc description. A strong plus will be past experience working with Chlamydia trachomatis or similar microbes and it is advisable to have a history of studying pathogenesis and/or immunological response within (complex) in vitro mammalian cell culture or with animal models.
