Job description

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work with Dr. Hamdi Joudeh on information theory for joint communication and sensing (JCAS). This is a full-time position for two years and will be based in the Information and Communication Theory (ICT) Lab within the Electrical Engineering (EE) Department at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

General Motivation and Research Topic

The integration of radio communication and sensing services in the same network infrastructure will be a key feature of next generation wireless technology. It is envisaged that wireless transceivers will be able to communicate with active devices, and simultaneously detect, localize, and track passive targets within their vicinity; all using the same spectrum and hardware resources. This emerging JCAS paradigm, currently at the frontier of wireless research, will revolutionize a broad range of applications, from automotive and transportation to healthcare and environmental monitoring.

This postdoc position is focused on developing a principled information theoretic framework for JCAS. The goal is to establish fundamental performance limits and trade-offs; and provide guiding principles for the design of efficient and reliable JCAS-enabled wireless systems.

Academic and Research Environment

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is one of Europe's top technological universities, situated in the heart of one of Europe's largest high-tech innovation ecosystems. Research at TU/e is characterized by a combination of academic excellence and a strong real-world impact. This impact is often obtained via close collaboration with high-tech industries.

Research related to this position will be carried out in the ICT Lab within the EE Department, and in close collaboration with Dr. Hamdi Joudeh.
