Join the EXCITE² Network in an exciting 4-year marketing and communication role for 19 European research facilities in material (geo-)science and microscopy.

Functieomschrijving

Join the Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University in an exciting four-year marketing and communication role, within the EXCITE2 network. This is your opportunity to work within a network of 19 leading research facilities dedicated to material science and microscopy in the field of geosciences. Central is highlighting the network's access to cutting-edge laboratories, showcasing the forefront of scientific exploration and innovation in geosciences.

Wat ga je doen?
We're seeking a dynamic Marketing and Communication Adviser to convey our facilities and discoveries to diverse audiences, spanning academia, industry, government, and the public. Your primary focus is communicating the vital role of Earth materials - minerals and rocks - in sustainable development, including e.g. storing carbon dioxide and hydrogen for sustainable energy and sourcing critical metals for the energy transition, and the pivotal role that EXCITE2 is playing. You will also help unfold the stories that minerals tell, e.g. about Earth's history, the origins of life, and the mechanisms behind earthquakes.

As part of the EXCITE² initiative, you will collaborate with leading-edge microscopy facilities, helping to reveal the properties of Earth materials all the way down to the atomic level. We are a community committed to open science, and we are looking for a Marketing and Communication Adviser who will work closely with project managers and scientists, taking charge of communication and outreach for the entire consortium in an open and effective manner. Your role additionally involves promotion of the project results to the broader (scientific and non-scientific) audience and to governmental organisations.

If you want to make a difference in geosciences by contributing to the future of Earth-material sciences, join us! Tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • communication and outreach related to EXCITE2;
  • stakeholder management, engaging new communities of users, connecting researchers from academia and industry;
  • setting up a social media strategy and maintain the dissemination activities;
  • bringing people together by co-organizing EXCITE events, trainings, and meetings;
  • organising the development of an augmented/virtual reality tool for EXCITE2.
