We are looking for an experienced Instructor who is interested in temporarily teaching Economics courses. Interested, we invite you to apply!

Job description

Please pay attention to the following:
The location for this position is University College Roosevelt, Lange Noordstraat 1, 4331 CB Middelburg, so you will not be employed by Utrecht University!

Your job
The post will require the successful candidate to teach two economics courses in each semester (semesters last for 15 weeks). This person will therefore teach four courses per academic year. These will be at all three levels: introductory, intermediary and advanced. The successful candidate will also supervise a number of 3rd-year bachelor student projects (known in the college as ‘senior projects’). To facilitate this supervision, this person will be research active, will have a broad research network and will have published appropriately to their career stage in the discipline of economics. Financial support will be provided by the department to allow for research results to be presented at national and international conferences.

As University College Roosevelt focuses mainly on teaching, research time will be limited compared to large research universities. That said, UCR is a great place for an early-career researcher who wishes to gain some important teaching and student supervision skills before pursuing a more research-focused academic career at a larger research university or research center.

University College Roosevelt (UCR) is one of the international honors colleges of Utrecht University, one of the leading universities in the Netherlands and in Europe. UCR was founded in 2004 with a campus in the heart of the historic city of Middelburg (Zeeland). UCR offers a Liberal Arts and Sciences program of high quality with approximately 200 courses from three academic departments (Arts and Humanities, Social Science, and Science and Engineering) - all delivered in English.

We allow students to construct their own bachelor’s program, based on their interests, strengths, and passions, whilst enabling them to continue to top master’s programs all over the world. At UCR, classes are made up of approximately 25 students and include continuous assessment as well as a high level of student-instructor and student-student interaction. Instructors have great freedom in designing their courses, and work within an environment that has teaching firmly as its priority, whilst also supporting undergraduate and faculty research.

UCR is a residential college, and therefore a small and tight-knit community consisting of approximately 600 students from all over the world and a small number of dedicated faculty and staff (of in total around 75 colleagues).
