Are you interested in mindfulness, meaning and meditation and would you like to organize these activities for your fellow students and would you like to be part of team NEWConnective? Then you should really apply for the position of Mindful Library student assistant at NEWConnective.

This is a 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) job, working hours partly flexible but preferred days on Monday and Thursday.

Job starts May 6 and lasts until end December 2024.

Your duties
  • Organizing activities in the Mindful Library
  • Coordination of the Mindful Library program
  • Web management Mindful Library page on vu.nl
  • Preparing Insta posts and stories for the Mindful Library
  • Manage a Mindful Library reservation system
  • Collaborate with team NEWConnective
  • Offering meditation in the VU Silence Room
  • Promote activities in and around the Mindful Library

  • Registered as a university student
  • Affinity with meditation and mindfulness

  • Familiarity with being able to provide meditations yourself is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 months.

  • a salary € 2.618,00 (Scale 6) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Student assistant step 2. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for 0,4 FTE (0.3 FTE is negotiable) Your employment contract will initially last until January 2025.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.

About the Mindful Library and NEWConnective

The Mindful Library is a new place on the VU campus for meditation and reflection. Hidden among the books on the twelfth floor of the University Library in the Main Building, the Mindful Library offers space for individual and group meditations.

Team NEWConnective is a program team that deals with life questions for students on the VU campus. NEWConnective organizes events on themes such as meaning, religion and personal beliefs. NEWConnective also offers dialogue sessions, grief groups and moments of silence in the VU quiet room.

The NEWConnective team consists of five part-timers with whom you will work a lot.
