We are looking for colleagues that are passionate about education in Artificial Intelligence. Our department wants to attract four junior lecturers who can strengthen our staff by giving high-quality instruction in teaching Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will support the Bachelor and Master AI programs. As a junior lecturer, you will be involved in various teaching-related and organizational activities in both programmes, with a special focus on innovation of courses. You will contribute to a further implementation of the principle of “active blended learning” in our programmes.

As a Junior lecturer you will be encouraged to work on academic innovations and to build a portfolio in the context of education as a preparation for various career paths. To this end, you will have the opportunity to acquire a basic qualification in teaching at university level (‘BKO’). The junior lecturer position is ideally suited for early-career teachers. You will be working in close cooperation and with the support of a lot of enthusiastic and experienced colleagues. A full Junior Lecturer Trajectory is 4 years and 2 months, and cannot be extended beyond this period. This position therefore does not lead to permanent employment.

Your duties
The junior lecturer will be expected to:
  • supervise/coordinate bachelor and/or master thesis projects
  • support teachers in individual courses in AI education programmes
  • coordinate student assistants
  • provide technical and organisational assistance for project oriented courses
  • advise on and help with the further development of innovative teaching concepts
  • innovate course materials such that they include up-to-date methods and techniques

Requirements

You must:
  • have completed a Master in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science including AI courses, or a related Master programme
  • be enthusiastic about teaching
  • have strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • possess good organizational skills
  • be proactive and able to work independently

  • formative assessments
  • specific technical skills, e.g. robotics
  • student tutoring
  • constructive alignment

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 50 months.

  • a salary of minimum € 3.226,00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 5.090,00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Teacher 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.8 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 50 months.

The appointment is temporary for 4 years and 2 months, including a period of probation of 2 months. The junior lecturer position is placed in the Department of Computer Science. The position is immediately available.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
