Job description

We are looking for an analytical researcher (MSc) with instrumental analytical knowledge, practical skills, well able to cooperate, flexible, proactive, solution-oriented and with open communication skills.

You will be working on the development and operational implementation of analysis of organic pollutants in water and off gas cycles, such as mercaptans, chlorinated aromatics, and other complex organic compounds. The removal, degradation and recovery of such organics is part of the research at Environmental Technology, carried out by PhD, Postdoc and MSc researchers. Your task will be the development of analytical methods to support the research team. You will be part of our research team of organic micropollutants and collaborate with the analytical team of Environmental Technology. Direct supervisors of you will be Dr. Alette Langenhoff in cooperation with Dr. Annemiek ter Heijne.

You will play an important role in the development of new methods, documenting the subsequent protocols, as well as support our researchers need for operational analytical methods and systems..
You will participate in our department with your knowledge on (wet) chemical analyses to contribute to the continuous development of analytical methods and on the coaching of young professionals to use these techniques. You will communicate new developments with your direct colleagues.

In summary, you can use your knowledge, expertise, experience with instruments, and communication skills for a successful support and collaboration with the researchers of our group and partners.

Requirements

  • MSc degree in analytical chemistry or related fields.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to develop, perform and coach on (wet) chemical analyses.
  • Ability to implement innovative developments in our laboratory.
  • Hands on experience with chromatography equipment, e.g. LC and GC.
  • Perform maintenance on the equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Skills to collaborate with young professionals (BSc/MSc/PhD).
  • Insight in biological and (bio)chemical processes, that are relevant for Environmental Technology.
  • A professional and dynamic team player with a flexible and proactive attitude, who can work independently, is enthusiastic and can take responsibility.
  • Accurateness in both oral and written communication in English and Dutch.

We offer a temporary position with an average working time of 38 hours per week for the period of 1 years, with an evaluation after 1 year and the possibility for an extension of 1 year. Gross salary € 2579,-. To € 3445,- maximum per month based on a full time employment and depending on expertise and experience.
We not only offer a competitive salary but also good (study) leave and a pension of the ABP Pension Fund.
