Research Technician Eye Inflammation

A position as Research Technician for the laboratory of Ophthalmology. You will study the role of the immune system in inflammatory eye diseases and train PhD students. The position is for one year, with the possibility of extension.

Job description

Your role will be to support ongoing immunological research projects in the department of Ophthalmology at the University Medical Center Utrecht. Focus of the research is the study of molecular mechanisms of eye inflammation and autoimmunity by application of CRISPR techniques in primary human cells and cell lines. In particular, the current research projects in the lab include flow cytometry, molecular cloning, and sequencing techniques. Your work will be supervised directly by
Dr. Jonas Kuiper and you will collaborate with other PhD students, clinicians and scientists.

Requirements

We are seeking highly motivated research technicians who are willing to learn new techniques and assays. Candidates should be highly interested in studying immunology in a multi-disciplinary and international team and be proficient in English. Experience in cellular and molecular techniques and knowledge of molecular cloning and cell culture are preferred. 

Conditions of employment

The maximum salary for this position (32 - 36 hours) is € 3.675,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

Our laboratory is embedded within the University Medical Center Utrecht's Center for Translational Immunology (CTI). The CTI comprises more than10 research groups and core facilities that study the immunological mechanisms of autoimmunity, infection, and cancer from basic science to clinical application.
