Functieomschrijving

The International Services team of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam provides relocation-and accommodation services for International Staff. In this position, you will support our new international academics in their journey to Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and make sure to relieve them of certain concerns before and after their arrival. Your duties
  • providing support and customized advice on practical matters, such as: housing, schools, childcare, spouse support, information about Dutch culture and language
  • processing housing applications via VU housing for international guests, staff members and PhD students
  • contribute in organizing workshops for international staff (sometimes outside office hours)
  • updating information on website, informing staff via welcome letters / newsletters
  • analysing and improving our services for international staff

Functie-eisen

  • completed education at HBO level
  • experience with supporting internationals coming to the Netherlands
  • a strong service-oriented, proactive and welcoming attitude
  • strong intercultural communication skills are a must
  • excellent communicating skills in English and Dutch (verbal and in writing)

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Dienstverband voor bepaalde tijd: 1 jaar.

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €3072 (scale 8) and a maximum €4103 (scale 8), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for 0.7 FTE.

The initial employment contract will affect a period of 1 year.

International Office
The International Office prepares and provides advice on internationalization policy and provides services to students and foreign visitors to the University. The Cluster International Office is managed by the three department heads International Mobility, International Relations and Centre for International Cooperation. This vacancy falls within the Department of International Mobility.

The Mobility Department consists of three teams and processes applications submitted by international students who want to obtain a degree certificate or guests who want to follow contract education. The Department evaluates foreign degrees and processes applications for visas, residence permits and work permits for both international students and non-student visitors. The Mobility Department also provides information to students of VU Amsterdam on studying abroad, manages various funds and exchange programmes, and supports the housing requests for foreign students and guests of VU Amsterdam.

Within the Mobility department, the International Services Team is responsible for immigration, housing and scholarship programs for international staff and students.
