Job description

The Taneja Lab and Ray Chaudhuri Lab are seeking a motivated research technician to investigate how chromatin remodeling safeguards replication forks under stress, a key process for overcoming chemoresistance and improving patient outcomes. This research involves patient-derived cell lines, mouse tumor models, and clinical biopsy samples to uncover fundamental mechanisms and develop novel strategies to enhance cancer therapies.

The selected candidate will perform experiments and receive training in an innovative technology developed in our lab for isolating single-molecule chromatin fibers from various tumor models, including solid and liquid biopsies. The role requires proficiency in confocal imaging and molecular cloning, along with maintaining and culturing cells in tissue culture systems. The candidate will also work with CRISPR-based models to perform genetic modifications, prepare laboratory reagents, maintain equipment and inventory, and analyze data using basic statistical methods.

As the research progresses, the technician will take on increasingly complex experimental tasks with greater independence. We seek a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a keen interest in learning cutting-edge techniques in chromatin and cancer research.

Requirements

The technical research assistant will work under supervision to support PhD students and post-docs. One main task will be the management of growing mouse colonies.

Experience with techniques in molecular biology and cell biology is required. We are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, challenging research environment, and can interact well with others as part of a cohesive team. The ideal candidate will have the following skills: experience with pre-clinical samples is preferable, preferentially also DNA cloning, transfections and infections; cell based assays including maintenance of cells; PCR/RT-PCR and other biochemical techniques;. Optimally the candidate has experience with flow cytometry and sorting.

Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, a valid proof of identity, diploma's and/ or relevant registration such as BIG/ RGS are conditions for the appointment.

Conditions of employment

  • You will receive a temporary contract for one year, with the prospect of permanent employment.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4.214,- (scale 7M) depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.
  • Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and an individual travel expense package.
  • An International Office which aids you in preparing for you arrival and stay.
  • Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
  • Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. And there is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
