Job description

We are looking for an experienced enterprise and domain architect to join our team and provide our users with a state-of-the-art IT landscape that meets their needs. You will help us translate our ambitions, goals, and strategies at a strategic level into a secure, cost-effective architecture that enables the university to achieve its objectives, anchored in the TU/e strategy. We are seeking an architect with a pragmatic approach, guiding our product teams to ensure that technical solutions, platforms, and infrastructure are turned into services that make sense to the business.

As a member of the Office of the CIO, you will join our architecture team. The TU/e architecture team consists of 3 enterprise/domain architects, supported by several solution architects. Solution architecture is organized within the scope of the product teams.

In your role as architect, together with product area leads, you will:
  • Advise the CIO/IT management on how to keep the IT landscape up to date and fit-for-purpose.
  • Your focus will be primarily on platforms and infrastructure, creating building blocks that support excellent research and education.
  • Guide product teams to understand and follow architecture guidelines when working on epics and user stories from the digitalization board as well as product and sprint backlogs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least a few years of experience as an Enterprise or Security Architect in a complex organization.
  • As an Enterprise Architect, you have a broad view of what an organization needs as a whole, and you are able to translate that into the necessary building blocks and communicate this effectively to different stakeholders within the organization.
  • You are convinced that technical solutions must serve a purpose that makes sense to the business.
  • You have strong technical knowledge, enabling you to assess and counter technical and infrastructural designs from an architectural point of view.
  • Professional communication skills in both Dutch and English – and you know how to communicate clearly about complex topics in powerful and simple language when supporting stakeholders.
  • You are pragmatic (but always keep a clear view of the horizon).
  • You demonstrate organizational sensitivity.
  • You have experience using security frameworks such as NIS2 and ISO27001, and you know how to implement these.
  • Knowledge of modern authentication protocols.
  • Familiarity with relevant reference architectures for the higher education sector (HORA/HOSA) and the ability to apply them within an organization is a plus.
  • You are a team player (together with the three other architects), you represent the team, and you are able to work independently.

Conditions of employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture, you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:
  • A monthly salary of minimum €5.705,- to maximum € 7.904,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 12-13 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
  • In addition to vacation pay, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • A favorable arrangement for more holidays or a sabbatical.
  • A selection model for additional fringe benefits.
  • Working hours in consultation for an optimal work-life balance.
  • Scope for your talent with advancement prospects and excellent development opportunities such as mentoring, workshops and coaching.
  • Partially paid parental leave and reimbursement for commuting expenses, working from home and the internet.
  • A generous employer contribution to the favorable ABP pension plan.

Please note that obtaining a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a mandatory part of the selection procedure.
