Job description

In this role, you will collect and manage sustainability data from dairy farms for the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). You will be responsible for your own portfolio of companies producing (greenhouse) vegetables, supplemented by businesses from another horticultural sector (e.g., fruit, cut flowers, or potted plants). You will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with these growers.
Therefore, you will work closely with our FADN participants from one of our regional offices: Alkmaar, The Hague, Drachten, Holten, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel, or Wageningen.

You will also be responsible for relationship management with these entrepreneurs. Therefore, you will work in close contact with our FADN participants from one of our regional offices: Alkmaar, The Hague, Drachten, Holten, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel, or Wageningen.

The Farm Accountancy Data Network (www.wur.eu/fadn) is a network of about 1,500 agricultural and horticultural businesses, 100 fishing vessels, and 150 forestry businesses. At Wageningen Economic Research, around 65 administrative assistants maintain this network. The main tasks and responsibilities of an arable farming administrative assistant include:
  • collecting financial and sustainability data from a fixed group of FADN farms. You obtain these data from farm administration, digital sources (e-invoices), or derive them from farm accountancy records, or by conducting surveys with the entrepreneur. The collected data are stored in a database and made available to fellow researchers;
  • maintaining relationships with FADN participants. For each entrepreneur, you prepare an annual report with business results and key environmental indicators, as well as a digital farm comparison overview on MijnAgrimatie.nl. During your visit to the entrepreneur, you explain these reports and answer any questions. At the same time, you initiate the data collection for the new year. Each year, you also recruit a few new participants to compensate for natural turnover. After your onboarding, you will be on the road approximately one day a week (full-time position).
