Your Role
As a Senior Project Controller, you will be part of an ambitious team where you are given plenty of room for your own initiative. You are responsible for the financial management of research projects. From budgeting to final reporting, you translate financial data into insights for research. You maintain close contact with project leaders and work together with them to ensure proper financial control of their projects.

Together with the Business Controller and project leaders, you ensure solid financial oversight and risk management. You maintain a complete overview of the financial status of projects, identify potential risks at an early stage, and take action when necessary.

Your Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing (subsidized) projects and being responsible for their financial administration;
  • Acting as the point of contact for the controller and project leaders while maintaining communication with external project partners and stakeholders;
  • Contributing to the implementation of internal control measures;
  • Identifying financial risks in time and taking action where needed;
  • Closing each financial period with accurate and reliable financial results and contributing significantly to the balance file and annual accounts;
  • Ensuring the reliability of financial information and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Contributing to the further professionalization of the Project Control team;
  • Delivering complete project files for audit purposes;
  • Being responsible for the financial management of a complex (subsidized) project, potentially WUR-wide.

Your Team
As a Senior Project Controller, you will be part of the Finance & Control department within the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG). The department consists of Business Control, Project Control, and Financial Support Officers. In this role, you will have a high degree of responsibility and autonomy while working closely with skilled and enthusiastic colleagues across various departments.

WUR welcomes applications from international candidates. Requirements

  • completed bachelor's degree (HBO) in business economics, accountancy, or a comparable financial field.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a financial environment, with experience in project administration and financial project management.

And you:
  • Are customer- and service-oriented.
  • Naturally seek collaboration.
  • Easily establish new contacts.
  • Have the ability to independently create and analyze financial (audit) reports.
  • Are not afraid to express your independent judgment.
  • Are sufficent in Dutch

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary up to € 5.478,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10). Additionally, For this role a 32 hours contract can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
