Job description

At the Netherlands Heart Institute we foster excellent cardiovascular research. Our mission is to develop new, excellent strategies for prevention, diagnosis and cure of cardiovascular disease by promoting cooperation between the cardiology departments of all Dutch University Medical Centers. An important pillar of our strategy is to facilitate the development of innovative national cardiovascular research infrastructures. One of these is the CardioResource national registry for heritable cardiac disorders, which will be established in the next 5 years. We are looking for a:

Project Manager CardioResource Research Infrastructure
(0,8 – 1,0 FTE // 29 – 36 hours per week)

CardioResource
CardioResource will be a national longitudinal registry that will bring together data and biomaterial from patients with heritable cardiac disorders from all seven Dutch University Medical Centers. It will combine diverse data types including clinical data, cardiac imaging and digital ECG data extracted from electronic health records, genetic data from clinical diagnostic services and large-scale research projects, patient biomaterials and wearables datasets. By bringing these resources together and enabling their use through responsible, legally compliant, and ethically governed access, CardioResource will support breakthroughs in risk stratification and therapy.

NWO has funded the establishment of the CardioResource infrastructure during the next 5 years, with additional funding from the Hartstichting and Stichting Hartekind. The project will be a joint effort of a consortium comprising all UMCs, with the collaboration of Health-RI and Nederlandse Hart Registratie. It will be facilitated by the Netherlands Heart Institute as part of its vision to establish a national cardiovascular research ecosystem and data hub, of which CardioResource will be an integral part alongside other registries and resources. Project coordination is entrusted to AmsterdamUMC, who is the partner leading the consortium.

Position
We are looking for a proactive Project Manager who will manage the execution of the project within a network of university medical centers. You will be responsible for the entire project cycle: from initiation to completion. You will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, data and IT specialists, policy advisors, and external stakeholders. You will coordinate project teams operating across multiple locations and disciplines. Besides project management tasks, you will also play an executionary role with respect to the establishment of the governance and ethical and legal framework of CardioResource. The role is offered on a one-year contract at 32-36 hours per week, with anticipated extension for a further four years subject to performance. You will be employed by the Netherlands Heart Institute and will be based for one day per week at the Netherlands Heart Institute and 3/4 days per week at Amsterdam UMC, location AMC.

In this role you will:

  • Develop a project plan, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Design the project organization and align multidisciplinary teams across project sites.
  • Monitor progress, quality, and coherence within the project.
  • Report to stakeholders on progress, results, and any challenges encountered.
  • Identify opportunities and risks in the project environment and respond appropriately.
  • In consultation with experts in the field, develop the ethical and legal framework and associated contracts, policies, documentation and consent/access forms, that will underpin responsible, legally compliant research data use once CardioResource is established.

What do we expect from you?
You are an experienced project leader who can maintain oversight, inspire others, and stay on course in a complex environment. You easily switch between strategic thinking and tactical execution. You understand how healthcare, policy, and technology intersect, and are skilled at building connections across disciplines.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds at least a completed master’s degree, preferably in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Technical Medicine).
