Job description

Do you enjoy using your administrative expertise to support the Breeding & Genomics department, thinking along proactively and ensuring that researchers are “relieved” of their administrative tasks? Are you someone who is good at keeping priorities in view? Are you sensitive to your environment and do you have an eye for the (international) clients of Wageningen Livestock Research and WUR? Then we are looking for you – will you come and strengthen our team of top professionals in the secretariat?

Wageningen Livestock Research (WLR) is looking for an enthusiastic Management Assistant for its research department Breeding & Genomics and the relevant Head of Department.

What will you do?
As a Management Assistant, you schedule appointments (internal and external) and manage calendars in Outlook. You handle outgoing correspondence, book business trips and arrange orders in our financial system. You also format research reports in the corporate house style, organise meetings and process data in various systems. In addition, you handle incoming and outgoing post and support the onboarding of new (guest) staff members.

You provide support to the Head of Department and staff members (answering questions about absence, orders, expense claims and other practical matters).

Your team
Together with the other management assistants, you ensure stable staffing and smooth cooperation within the secretariat. You are resilient under pressure and able to switch quickly; when necessary, management assistants are able to take over one another’s tasks.

Wageningen Livestock Research (WLR) consists of five research departments. The WLR secretariat supports all five departments and currently comprises five management assistants. The Breeding & Genomics research department consists of approximately 45 employees.

With your strong communication skills and sense of connection, you fulfil a pivotal role within this internationally oriented group.

Requirements

You are an all-round management assistant who communicates in a transparent and ethical manner, contributing to a pleasant working atmosphere. You are quality-oriented and bring a fresh, professional perspective. You are committed to further enhancing the quality and efficiency of the secretariat.

You will strengthen our team if you:
  • Have MBO+/HBO level working and thinking skills and a specific qualification as a Management Assistant;
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in a secretarial role;
  • Have a good command of MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint;
  • Have a good command of both Dutch and English at B2 level.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • there is a strong focus on vitality and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for a small fee;
  • a fixed year-end bonus of 8,3%;
  • excellent pension scheme.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 2.824,- and € 3.567,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 6). This role is for 24 - 28 hours (0,67 tot 0,78 fte) per week. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance. Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.

Wageningen University & Research offers plenty of opportunities for growth and development, with a strong internal recruitment policy and excellent training programmes.

You will work on the greenest and most innovative campus in the Netherlands, in an international and open working environment. For 20 consecutive years, we have been voted the "best university" in the Netherlands! A place to be proud of.

Due to Dutch immigration laws, candidates from outside the EU/EFTA zone, can usually not be hired for this position. More information can be found on the website of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service.
