Job description

Are you motivated to help build the facilities services at Wageningen University & Research? We are looking for an enthusiastic, independent, and proactive Facilities Support (FS) Team Lead.

As an experienced team leader, you will work in an environment where customer contact is key. Together with employees at various locations, you will form self-managing teams, each with their own responsibilities.

You are capable of further professionalizing our services, from execution to management and in the area of hospitality. In addition, you supervise the team members, are responsible for the substantive management of work processes, and take care of training, planning, recruitment & selection, and coaching of the team. Finally, you will translate customer needs into appropriate services and ensure that the team's goals are achieved. You will do this in consultation with fellow team leaders and the Head of Operational Services.

Your duties and responsibilities include:
  • You are responsible for the quality and deployment of employees, you draw up an overall annual plan and periodically evaluate performance;
  • You make a stimulating contribution to the development of employees and hold employees accountable for agreements made and results achieved;
  • You are (jointly) responsible for the development of Facilities Support in a broad sense, both in terms of service provision and employee development;
  • You determine preconditions, set out guidelines, set priorities, and are jointly responsible for standardizing and uniforming services and processes.
  • You maintain close contact with internal clients (location managers), monitor quality, and translate service requests into an adequate offering at a good price-quality ratio.
  • You are a sparring partner for the internal client in terms of content;
  • You are able to initiate, manage, and shape change processes;
  • You are able to be a driving force for FS on certain themes and projects.

Facilities Services is a broadly oriented organizational unit within WUR and is responsible for a wide range of services: from housing to automation, from sports facilities to coffee machines, and from reception services to purchasing and library services. Facilities Services aims to provide students and colleagues with a learning and working environment in which they can work together on the future and get the best out of themselves. Within our Facilities Support department, we provide facility services within the research and education buildings of Wageningen University & Research. We do this with over 130 facility staff and receptionists and three team leaders, spread across more than 15 buildings.

Requirements

You are a motivating and coaching manager and naturally have a customer-friendly and service-oriented attitude. You are a true team player, but also capable of working independently. You are someone who focuses strongly on content and performance, while at the same time paying attention to trust and connection among employees.

We consider the following competencies to be important for the successful performance of this role: customer focus, strategic thinking, planning & organization, environmental awareness, connective leadership, and coaching.

You also possess:
  • At least a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking;
  • Supplemented with training focused on leadership;
  • Knowledge in the field of Facility Management;
  • An affinity with occupational health and safety and HR matters;
  • Dutch level B1 in speaking and writing is mandatory;
  • Several years of experience in the field of (commercial) services.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.482,- and € 4.929,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 9). Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended on good performance.
