Job description

This position is in the Philosophy (PHI) group which is led by Prof. Rachel A. Ankeny. The PHI group is recognized internationally for its cutting-edge research and innovative teaching in applied philosophy and philosophy of the life sciences in practice. The PHI group sits administratively within the CPT cluster which is composed of three chair groups: Strategic Communication (COM), Philosophy (PHI), and Knowledge, Technology, and Information (KTI). The CPT Support Team is enthusiastic, creative, and goal oriented, and provides specialized support to researchers, lecturers, and PhD candidates in the respective chair groups, which allows our colleagues to focus as much as possible on their core tasks: education, research and engagement.

Your duties as an Executive Assistant and Manager for the Philosophy (PHI) group will include providing high-level administrative support with tasks including:
  • confidential communications (emails, calls, mail) and record maintenance for the Chair;
  • preparation of higher-level administrative reports for projects/presentations;
  • organization of regular meetings, and non-regular workshops and events with PHI collaborators managing complex schedules;
  • coordination of travel and meetings for the Chair;
  • support for implementation of university-level processes and policies pertaining to filing time declarations, travel, reimbursements, PhD candidatures, and so on, and onboarding of new colleagues;
  • establishment of data management infrastructures and promotion of best practices in data management including gathering, recording, and organizing essential compliance-related information in accordance with university policies;
  • providing guidance and implementing continuous improvement of the group’s web and social media presence;
  • education management including support for grade registration, promotion of courses, and student contact;
  • coverage as required due to illness or similar for others in the CPT Support Team.

You have an affinity for careful attention to administrative processes. With your meticulous approach, you ensure that administrative tasks are carried out efficiently and accurately and can work independently once familiar with tasks. You have excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English, enabling you to communicate effectively with colleagues and students from a variety of backgrounds. You quickly master new systems. Experience with software programs used within WUR such as ProQme, Osiris, Brightspace, and Hora Finita is a plus.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: MBO+/HBO work and thinking level.
  • Work experience: preferably experience with higher-level administrative tasks, or secretarial or management/office assistant work.
  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written Dutch and English (B1).
  • Experience with MS Office and ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with administrative business processes.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3,029,- and € 3,623.- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 6). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended.
