Do you want to work as a skills teacher at an international university? Do you have a background in education, and would you like to work in an enthusiastic team to teach Information Literacy to TU/e’s students? Then please read on!

Information
An ambitious university requires committed support for its students and scholars. Within the Library and Information Services (LIS), the library (www.tue.nl/library) is responsible for a wide range of services. One of its core tasks is to develop and teach information literacy. Information literacy focuses on professional and responsible use of information within the academic process.

The position
Your role as Information Literacy Teacher involves a range of teaching and educational development activities, with the main target group being undergraduate and graduate students of all TU/e departments.
We are looking for an enthusiastic education professional to help shape our information literacy education. Organizationally, the position falls within the product area "Library and Open Science".
Your main tasks will be:
  • Adapting existing and creating new educational materials and services.
  • Providing on-campus training and workshops to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Providing support to students, researchers, and other university staff concerning information literacy-related topics.
  • Assessing assignments and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Helping organize a series of extracurricular workshops on information literacy topics, such as AI literacy.

You will be part of a small but visible team of three educational professionals. The team sometimes also provides support/advice towards the development of training and educational materials in other areas of the LIS service.

Requirements

Who are you?
  • You have completed at least an academic master’s degree. A professional background/degree in teaching students in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • You have verifiable knowledge of research skills, are adept at handling scientific information, and have a keen interest in teaching methods for academic skills education. Experience with developing e-learning courses is considered an advantage. This experience may have been acquired through academic coursework during your studies, or you may have gained professional experience in an academic environment.
  • You have demonstrable experience and affinity with teaching young adults.
  • You can adapt your teaching style and educational materials to different types of students and varying group sizes. You are communicative, precise, proactive, and a team player. You are eager to learn and have a flexible attitude.
  • The formal language of communication at TU/e is English. Therefore, a strong command of the English language (at least CEFR-C1) is a requirement. You should be able to communicate effectively and accurately in both spoken and written English. Proficiency in the Dutch language is considered an advantage.

If you are concerned that you don’t meet all the requirements sufficiently, but the job does excite you, then be sure to respond, we would love to look at your profile.
