Job description

In this unique position, you will work within the research team of the Translational AI Laboratory (TrAIL) at Amsterdam UMC. Together with researchers, lecturers, and healthcare professionals, you will contribute to the collection, processing, and analysis of high-quality and reliable clinical data, supporting the research, development, and implementation of impactful AI applications in healthcare. You will be responsible for both data management and quality control. This includes ensuring the quality, accessibility, and compliance of data, as well as monitoring and improving research processes in line with relevant standards and certifications (such as ISO). You will help develop and implement procedures to guarantee data integrity and process quality, supporting a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Data Management: coordinate data management workflows with internal teams and external partners; oversee data collection, preprocessing, documentation, registration of data knowledge, and long-term archiving; ensure secure and structured storage systems that adhere to institutional and regulatory guidelines; manage and optimize High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities for research and education activities.
  • Process Quality Assurance & Support; ensure compliance with METC requirements and liaise with legal research support; develop and share best practices, user guides, and training materials for research data and compute facilities; support AI and clinical specialists with questions related to data workflows, computational resources, and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Completed Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or related field.
  • Data Management: experience in data management, preferably in a healthcare or research environment; strong understanding of the research data lifecycle, data governance, terminology, and preprocessing workflows; experience with HPC environments and management of computational infrastructure; knowledge of HL7, LIMS, EHR, MDR/IVDR, and FAIR principles is an advantage.
  • Process Quality Assurance & Support: experience in developing protocols and procedures; familiarity with quality standards and certification processes (e.g., ISO); ability to monitor, evaluate, and improve research and data management processes; experience with compliance and regulatory requirements in a research or healthcare setting.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: a proactive, collaborative, and investigative attitude; analytical, structured, communicative, and connecting; strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to users with diverse backgrounds; willing to learn Dutch language, both spoken and written.

  • A contract for 12 months, with the intention to extend.
  • Salary scale 10: € 3.598 to € 5.669 gross based on full-time employment (depending on education and experience) and a year-end bonus of 8.3%. Calculate your net salary here.
  • Holiday hours: 190.4 per year for fulltime and a possibility to save additional hours.
  • Pension accrual with BeFrank, a modern, comprehensible and fairly priced pension.
  • For >7 km each way, 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs and, for private transport, €0.18 per km up to a maximum of 40 km each way.
  • Do you prefer walking or cycling? Take advantage of our good bike scheme. Moreover, you will receive a reimbursement of €0.18 per km.
