We are looking for a laboratory technician to join our team. In this position, you will be primarily responsible for building, maintaining and developing highly advanced experimental setups for our quantum research labs. Job description

As a technician, you will be part of the team of lab technicians at QCE and QuTech. No day will be the same and you will enjoy being part of an inclusive and unique environment with friendly colleagues.

Your Daily Responsibilities are:

  • Assisting the Fujitsu Collaboration research group at QuTech by working closely with the lab manager, other technicians within the Department of Quantum Computing and Engineering (QCE), and lab technicians at QuTech;
  • Assembling, mounting and modifying instruments and equipment in the optics lab, think of lasers and optical table, but also pumps, compressors, and cryostat;
  • In collaboration with researchers, you will formulate technical specifications and drawings for lab equipment and lab infrastructure;
  • Maintaining contacts with suppliers, requesting quotes, placing orders and managing external parties in the laboratory;
  • Performing (preventive) maintenance on research equipment.

Requirements

We are looking for a technician with preferably a college education in a technical discipline (physics, mechanical engineering, systems design, mechatronics, etc.). Work includes lasers, optics, vacuum, gases and instrumentation.

Key requirements are:

  • BSc in a technical discipline, such as applied physics or mechanical engineering;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with strong assembly skills, including precision work;
  • Interest in refrigeration, vacuum, electrical and control engineering;
  • Good command of Dutch or English at a professional level (speaking), with conversational skills in the other language;
  • Curiosity, sense of responsibility and attention to detail;
  • Experience with Autodesk Autocad/Inventor is an advantage.

For this position an EU Nationality or a Dutch working permit will be required.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

You will receive a TU Delft contract with the benefits listed below.

  • A temporary employment contract of 12 months with possibility of extension.
  • A position for 32 to 38 hours per week (0.8 - 1.0 fte);
  • A salary according to the CAO Dutch Universities scale 9 salary from €3,377 and a maximum of €4,640 gross per month based on 38 hours per week);
  • 8% vacation allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%;
  • An excellent pension scheme through ABP;
  • The possibility to put together an individual benefits package every year;
  • Up to 41 vacation days per year based on full-time employment;
