Are you interested in joining our academic community and contributing to our education programmes in Economics?

The joint departments of Macro, International and Labour Economics (MILE) and Microeconomics and Public Economics (MPE) of the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University are looking for lecturers in their Economics programs for the period September 2024 – August 2027. Both part-time (minimum of 0.5 fte) and full-time positions are available.

Job Description
You will play an important role in the education programmes offered by the two departments. These programmes include the BSc Economics and Business Economics, MSc Economics and other MSc programs such as Human Decision Sciences, Economics and Strategy of Emerging Markets, and Financial Economics. Your tasks will include teaching tutorial groups, BSc thesis supervision, grading, and some coordination of teaching activities.

Requirements
  • You are highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • You hold a Master degree in Economics, Econometrics, or equivalent, with sufficiently high grades;
  • You have a high-level proficiency in the English language (as all teaching is in English); proficiency in the Dutch language is considered an advantage;
  • Affinity with the Maastricht University educational system (PBL) is considered an advantage.

What we offer
As Lecturer positions in Economics at School of Business and Economics, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to UFO profile Teacher, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3226,00 and €5090,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,5 - 1,0 FTE.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
