The research group on Services, Cybersecurity and Safety (SCS, scs.ewi.utwente.nl/) performs research among others on biometrics and forensic biometrics.
The AFIS Benchmark 2018 is a request of the Dutch National Police, as part of their tender procedure for the selection a new Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), as this infrastructure has to be renewed in 2018. The aim is to characterize and compare commercial-of-the-shelf AFIS SDKs of the technology providers who will decide to participate to this tender as contenders. In addition, methods will be developed to improve the integrity of the Dutch police fingerprint database. This 12 month project is ambitious and the challenges and requirements are numerous:
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher who preferably holds a PhD degree in biometrics, computer science, signal and image processing, computational statistics or related field, ideally with a post-doc experience. An interesting temporary research position in a dynamic and international environment. The successful candidate will be provided with excellent opportunities for gaining experience and for extending his/her knowledge. You will be appointed for a period of 12 months. Depending on relevant background and experience, the monthly salary on a full time basis starts at € 3.111 gross per month.
