Job description

Wageningen University & Research and Utrecht University are currently setting up The Netherlands Plant Eco-phenotyping Centre (NPEC) for large-scale phenotyping of plants for research purposes. This new facility will use state-of-the-art sensor technology and will generate and process terabytes of data on a weekly basis. We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile IT systems architect to help us connect various elements of the facility we are building to a central database and make this accessible to users throughout the country. Data sources include high-res cameras, drones and other mobile (semi-) autonomous vehicles. The measurements will be stored in and made available to researchers through a platform called the Plant Phenomics Information System (PHIS). Sensors and PHIS need to be connected through (custom) APIs and the IT infrastructure supporting these efforts needs to be developed further. Giving data management advice and supporting researchers in using PHIS are important parts of the job.

We offer a research-minded workplace where you have the opportunity to explore new technologies and work at the forefront of plant research. WUR has a strong international profile and a large number of young researchers; a state-of-the art computational infrastructure. We encourage employees to further develop themselves through courses, training and conferences.
